BEIJING, China, March 25, 2019 – Whale Cloud announced today that it has joined GSMA, as an associate member of the London-based global mobile industry organization, to promote the industry-level collaboration and convergence between the telecom industry and vertical industries in the 5G era.
Whale Cloud was founded in 2003, rebranded from ZTEsoft, as a specialist in telco IT solutions for nearly two decades in the telecom industry. “This time, we joined GSMA as a new member, but actually we are a veteran in this industry” said Dr. Xianglong Huang, vice president and CTO of Whale Cloud, who received the GSMA associate membership certificate presented to him by Sihan (Head of Greater China, GSMA), Alex Sinclair (CTO, GSMA), and Harry Wang (Head of Membership APAC) during the Post-MWC19 Sharing in Beijing.
“After establishing strategic cooperation with Alibaba last year, we have now become a unique vendor in this industry, which converges the CT experience, IT approach, and data intelligence technologies” He added, “Upon the 5G arrival, telco will still need to face the competitiveness from the OTT world. To maintain their competitive edge, telco needs to absorb the IT approach and architecture to provide quality services to their customers, and especially to their enterprise customers. So, we are delighted to start these initiatives in this industry to converge, innovate, and disrupt. Together, we can eliminate barriers between the different industry sectors, and make technologies do good things to people, to business, and to the society in a cost-effective way. ”
GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, uniting more than 750 operators, with over 400 companies within the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device producers. It also includes software companies, equipment providers, internet companies, as well as organizations in adjacent industry sectors.
As a committed player in the GSMA community, Whale Cloud will actively immerge itself in the technical working groups, drive industry innovation incubation projects, and present social responsibility initiatives in the future.
