Whale Cloud Joined the OpenMessaging Community Under the Linux Foundation
Jun 02, 2020

NANJING, China, October 31, 2018 – Whale Cloud, a world-leading digital transformation expert, officially joined the OpenMessaging open source standard community under the Linux Foundation. It will join hands with community members such as Alibaba, Yahoo, DiDi, and WeBank to continuously promote open standard establishment in top message industries and make OpenMessaging an international cross-industry solution standard for cloud and big data, which will enable enterprises to embrace open source technologies in their digital transformation.

OpenMessaging is the first Chinese-initiated international standard for distributed computing, aiming to establish an application development standard for vendor- and platform-irrelevant distributed message and stream processing. In addition to connecting standards across platforms, languages, products, and clouds, OpenMessaging also provides the Cloud Native capability for the cloud computing and hybrid cloud architecture to achieve seamless migration of cloud platforms. OpenMessaging has become a member of the Linux foundation and received support from top programs such as RocketMQ, NATS, and RabbitMQ.

As the first company that has Alibaba Cloud infrastructure and rich experience in providing service for telcos and industry digital transformation, Whale Cloud has developed the distributed message service (ZMQ) based on the open-source RocketMQ technology and widely used the service in its digital products and solutions for global customers. During the process, Whale Cloud has found out that a general cloud-based distributed message standard can solve problems such as high complexity and incompatibility of message middleware and provide technical support for emerging businesses such as big data, stream computing, and IoT.

Joining the OpenMessaging community is Whale Cloud’s new contribution to the open source community, following its ONAP membership last year. Huang Xianglong, VP/CTO of Whale Cloud, said, “Whale Cloud will work with OpenMessaging to improve and enrich digital transformation technologies and services to flexibly meet requirements of telcos and enterprises. We’ll also share our experience of utilizing data intelligence in vertical industries and cooperate with our partners from various fields to promote development of the open source ecosystem and build unlimited innovative experience.”
