NANJING, China, August 28, 2020 – Whale Cloud is pleased to announce that it has been named a winner in Light Reading’s Leading Lights Awards 2020 for the Most Innovative Blockchain for Telecoms Strategy, which is awarded to the company that has devised the most innovative blockchain-based strategy in the telecoms market during the past year. The winners of the Leading Lights Awards, were announced on August 21, in a special online ceremony.
Whale Cloud wins for its blockchain-based data-sharing platform which allows China Unicom to share and trade data with enterprise customers from sectors such as banking, insurance and technology. The centralized data-sharing platform unifies vast amounts of data from all centers across China Unicom Group, including 31 subsidiaries, and China Unicom is now sharing data with over 1000 enterprise customers from over 20 industries. The platform uses mobile numbers to verify users and allows data to be referenced between systems, rather than replicated, resulting in cost-savings related to data storage and management. Underpinned by decentralized blockchain technology, data sovereignty, privacy and transparency will no longer be seen as obstacles for data-sharing.
“This year’s Leading Lights Awards entries show how the global communications industry is experiencing and embracing change, all while continuing to improve one of modern society’s foundational resources,” said Light Reading Editor-in-Chief Phil Harvey. “The judges were challenged to pick winners among several groups of really closely matched finalists and we think the whole group should be proud of their achievements. Congratulations, everyone.”
“The project that we delivered for China Unicom aligns with our vision of using blockchain to improve transparency and security as well as sharing data with enterprises across industries,” said Zhengcang Xiao, CTO, Whale Cloud International. “We are pleased and honored to be chosen as this year’s Most Innovative Blockchain for Telecoms Strategy. This award is also a recognition of our continuous efforts and we will continue to add value to our customers.”
