Claro Deploys Whale Cloud’s Order Management System to Support its Ecommerce Business Growth

e-Commerce

NANJING, China, February 25, 2022 - Whale Cloud, a leading technology company providing software solutions and services for telecommunications among other industries, announced that Claro Colombia, a subsidiary telecommunications operator of América Móvil, has deployed Whale Cloud’s Order Management System (OMS) to enable growth in Claro’s e-Commerce business.

Claro, the largest telecom operator in Colombia, straddles both telecommunications and verticals, such as e-Commerce. As this vertical leans towards an increasingly digital economy, triggering changes in online shopping, it is extremely important for Claro Colombia to cope with these changes and improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Whale Cloud’s omni-channel order management system generates these benefits by connecting supply chain and sales channels together, tracking information and handling processes across the entire order lifecycle. In this first project phase, the centralized order and inventory management capabilities of OMS help Claro Colombia fulfill orders with full transparency, fast shipping, and timely delivery.

Whale Cloud’s OMS orchestrates order, inventory, and fulfillment processes together. More specifically, OMS delivers:

  • Intelligent sourcing: By integrating all Claro owned stores & warehouses, OMS gives Claro the possibility to increase their sales by covering a wider range of delivery areas in a shorter amount of time. By prioritizing multiple sourcing rules based on key order parameters, Claro OMS is lowering out of stock scenarios, minimizing lost sales and generating a higher inventory turnover (which lowers inventory surplus and reduces the number of obsolete, aged units in stock).

  • Inventory visibility & availability: Claro’s logistics operator is integrated in real-time with the OMS. This enables the system to obtain the latest physical inventory changes in Claro’s warehouses and constantly recompute the virtual inventory made available to customer channels. By being constantly updated, OMS minimizes stock overselling scenarios and enables full inventory visibility to its users. In turn, Claro can offer better customer service by guaranteeing the availability of purchased products.

  • Automated Out Of Stock handling: As abnormal out of stock scenarios can occur in Claro’s day to day operation, OMS also focuses on providing solutions to reprocess automatically or in batch, orders which have an issue in their fulfillment process. These system mechanisms include for example daily sourcing retry, changing the sourcing warehouse or triggering a transfer. These processes eventually release the workload on Claro operational logistics users who currently need to resolve manually such abnormalities.

As the health and well-being of employees, customers and partners are of primary importance in this project, the entire Phase 1 was remotely delivered on cloud. Despite the uncertainty and volatility during these pandemic times, remote teams from different countries worked towards the same goal, and delivered the project as expected.

“The successful implementation of OMS Phase I would not have been possible without the efforts, expertise, and persistence from our partners - Whale Cloud and Global Hitss, especially in the face of the difficulties brought about by the pandemic. In addition, Whale Cloud’s powerful OMS gives us the confidence in creating the end-to-end commerce experience for our customers,” said Rodrigo de Gusmao, Executive Director Mass Market Unit, Claro Colombia.

“The project is our first OMS implementation in Latin America and is of great significance to our active penetration of the Latin American market. Thanks to Claro's choice and Global Hitss's local market experience and support, and we will continue to work closely to facilitate Claro Colombia to secure a favorable foothold in the e-Commerce market,” said Xu Xin, Director of Strategic Business Development, Whale Cloud.

“This project has strengthen the partnership and strategy between Whale Cloud, Alibaba Cloud and Global Hitss to penetrate the latin market. Global Hitss, having human capabilities and knowledge on the local markets will allow to expand more innovative solutions in a fast and efficient way,” Said Oscar Marquez, CTO, Global Hitss.
