Whale Cloud Drives Projects to Deliver Intelligent Operation in 5G & IoT era
Jul 21, 2020

NANJING, China, July 20, 2020 – Whale Cloud is pleased to announce the participation in TM Forum’s collaborative proof-of-concept catalyst program and showcase the latest development in “Business Operating System” (BOS) Project and “5G Digital Support System for Enterprise Customers” Project. TM Forum’s Catalyst program is focused on co-creating innovative solutions to important industry challenges using key TM Forum best practices and standards.

As CSPs are gearing up for the development of 5G services, it is imperative for them to leverage industry-compliant operating systems with agreed capabilities and components to reduce the time it takes to deploy new services, easily manage and monetize 5G applications and facilitate in multi-partner ecosystems.

The BOS Catalyst Project demonstrated the development of an interoperable reference implementation of a core commerce management system, a portion of the TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), to help CSPs reduce integration costs, deliver zero-touch agility, and monetize 5G. Whale Cloud has recently signed up for TM Forum’s Open API & ODA Manifesto to provide support to the essential standards required to enable a truly ‘plug and play’ set of technology capabilities. The BOS Catalyst is one of the practical steps in the development of the ODA. Working with Orange, Vodafone, Telenor and China Unicom, the project showcases a practical implementation of online charging, usage management, usage buckets while implementing a meta-data driven federated product catalogue to drive order capture and order-orchestration. The catalyst will include the implementation of Process Flow API to manage business processes.

The “5G Digital Support System for Enterprise Customers” Catalyst – which we are running in partnership with China Unicom – is focused on enterprise customers experience in 5G era. The catalyst provides enterprise customers a unified online self-service system to search, select, order and monitor services with backing from technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data analytics, network slicing, edge computing. With end-to-end automatic closed-loop operation, the 5G Digital Support System dramatically shorts new service Time-to-Market, offering 2C, 2B and 2B2C services with consistent experience. The Catalyst will be showcased at TM Forum’s interactive Digital Catalyst Showcase which will commence online on July 21.

“Today CSPs are in urgent need for systems that are robust and reliable to realize the plug-and-play approach so that they will have more time to develop differentiated services,” said Zhengcang Xiao, CTO, Whale Cloud International. “TM Forum’s Catalyst program provides a unique collaborative environment where companies from around the globe work together to create solutions to key industry challenges. We are delighted to be working with leading CSPs and industry partners to accelerate the implementation of the industry-compliant solutions and services.”
