Nanjing, China, October 28, 2025 – Whale Cloud, a global technology company providing software solutions and services for telecommunications and multiple industries, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to join the GSMA Open Gateway initiative as a channel supporter. This move underscores Whale Cloud’s commitment to openness, innovation, and collaborative development across borders and platforms. By engaging with the broader ecosystem, Whale Cloud aims to apply its industry expertise to help telcos and enterprises build future-ready, interoperable digital infrastructures.
GSMA Open Gateway is a common and open framework between operators to make it easier for developers and cloud providers to build safer apps and services that seamlessly communicate with each other and work for all devices and customers. This is done through single access points to mobile networks known as Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). From Brazil to China, Norway to New Zealand, nearly 79 mobile operator groups worldwide, representing 291 mobile networks and nearly 80% of global connections, are already part of the initiative.
As a channel supporter, Whale Cloud will bring its deep experience in building agile, cloud-native systems and AI-powered solutions to the Open Gateway community. The company will focus on:
- Pursuing API certifications that promote interoperability and ensure seamless service integration across networks.
- Actively contributing to GSMA working groups, particularly those shaping the future of AI-enabled services, edge computing, and Network-as-a-Service (NaaS).
- Developing intelligent tools and platforms that harness AI and automation to empower developers in creating smarter, faster, and more personalized customer experiences.
“The GSMA Open Gateway gives the telecom industry a chance to align globally and innovate locally. Telcos, developers, and enterprises can work together through a unified set of open APIs,” said George Zhao, Deputy CMO of Whale Cloud International. “Our goal in the community is to work closely with carriers, developers, and ecosystem partners to unlock new possibilities through open, intelligent APIs and make telecom networks more open, accessible, and useful for everyone.”
Henry Calvert, Head of Networks at GSMA said: “We’re delighted to welcome Whale Cloud to the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. Whale Cloud’s proven experience in helping enterprises across sectors such as healthcare, and fintech digitally transform through cloud-native and AI-powered solutions positions them as a key partner in driving both demand and supply side fulfilment. Their system integration expertise across the value chain will play an important role in accelerating enterprise adoption of Open Gateway APIs.”
